...and just like that, we're just a few days shy of hitting the half way point of this deployment! And so October has been filled with lots of new adventures!
It all started with B-I-N-G-O!
...and Pull Tabs too!
First off, you're probably wondering what the heck are Pull Tabs? Basically, it's Alaska's lottery system, instead of scratch offs. Silly, I know, but people go crazy for these things!
Bingo night started off with a lucky friend winning $162 on a Pull Tab. And then $102 on a Pull Tab. The luck didn't end there though because the first Bingo game of the night, yup, you guessed it. They won. $400. So as we sat in the Bingo hall for the next 6 hours, don't question us, no luck was to be had. And THEN! ...Another friend won $100 for sitting in "The Hottest Seat in Fairbanks". Literally all they did was randomly draw her seat number out of a bucket. So at the end of a 7 hour night, each couple I was with was going home with something and then there was lonesome me. With $2 winnings from a stinking Pull Tab. Winner or not, it was a great night out. Don't judge! ;)
And then there was Wisdom Teeth Wednesday where I had all 4 of my Wisdom teeth removed. As much as I wish B could have been there to hold my hand and tell me everything was going to be okay, I am so very thankful for such awesome friends. The procedure was nothing of what I had imagined. I feel as if I had only heard "horror" stories and yet when they were done with me and told me to open my eyes, I looked at the dentist and said, "that's it?" And if you know me, I don't do pain well, at all. But I took it like a champ! Friends were definitely my saving grace that day, and the next days to follow. They gave me rides to and from the dentist, brought me lots of soft food yummies, made me ice packs, and even just sat in the house and watched TV with me while I was laid up on the couch. So if I haven't told you thank you enough, THANK YOU!! :)

Finally after a few days of recovery, I was out and about again. This time, camping! Ok, so I didn't stay the night since it was a last minute thing for me, but it was well enjoyed time and great company. We sat around a camp fire enjoying Alaska's beauty while eating, having good conversation, and watching the amazing sunset. Duke made 2 new friends, Max and Katie, and I got to take a few rides on the 4-wheeler.
