WHAT?! A MONTH?

Yes, that is how long B has now been gone. Crazy to think we've already made it a whole month. I get excited to think only 11 more until I let my little friend Mr. Donut of Misery come to visit and he tells me we're only 8% done and have a "long, long way to go..." But it's okay, we will get through this and with each day in the past, we are one day closer to one another again. So far, time has flown by. I have kept beyond busy, so busy that I feel like I need a "sick" day just to catch up on all I have to do around the house. B and I have still been beyond fortunate to have some type of communication every single day since he has left. Under these circumstances I feel like we're just back in the good 'ol days of West Point, doing our thing, living our lives, day to day, waiting for the one day to see each other. I guess 5 years of long distance really can prepare you for the long haul of a deployment. Yes, there is much more worry and fear, but to hear his voice and know he is okay is what gets me through.

I know I have been slacking on my blogging as B has been so kind to remind me and asks me each day when I will have a new blog up. My goal from the beginning was to blog at least once a week and possibly more often with the more I had going on. Why I thought the more I was doing to keep busy the more I could blog? I have no idea as it just simply does not add up. So as it's been almost 2 weeks now we'll take a look back on time! This may just happen to turn into a long one.

Last week was kept continuously busy with volleyball playoff games. We had our end of the year tournament where our team continued to have several wins which ended up in us playing about 6 or 7 games in just 3 nights. With our second loss, we were out of the tournament and placed 3rd. Looking back on the regular season, we came a long way! I had a lot of fun and made even more great friends that I am beyond thankful for!

Last week was also the beginning of the Youth Baseball season, therefore I have been working a lot of hours in preparation for the upcoming season. I even learned how to drive the tractor so that I could be the one to groom the fields. I know we would all pay to have seen photos, but unfortunately, there are none. :) We are continuing to be swamped with all that comes with getting the fields ready for the games which brings home a very exhausted Lindsey every night. But I can't complain, it definitely makes it easy to sleep at night!

The weekend was jam packed as I don't think I was at home more than a few hours by myself. Friday night I spent with some new wonderful friends checking out Fairbanks First Friday, having dinner and some drinks with the girls, while finishing off the night at a local joint by meeting up with a few more great friends.

Saturday morning started out with an FRG meeting, then a meet up at McDonald's with a fellow spouse and her children before we hit the road for "Beautify Fairbanks Day." Her husband's platoon, which is a part of B's battery has sponsored a section of the highway so that is where we headed. By this time it was early afternoon and with the thousands of people that started out bright and early, there wasn't much left for us to do. But the effort is what matters, right? So instead, I headed to the furniture store. Some of you may know that we have been talking about getting new furniture ever since we moved in the house, but knowing that it's such a long term thing, I've had a hard time making a decision. Well, I bought furniture! I was nervous as it was the first big purchase I was making on my own, and just hoped B would be okay with the selection. Good news, he loves it! I hope he likes it just as much in person when he gets back home! That evening a few of us went out to dinner in honor of Mother's Day. Yes, only one of us has actual children, but the others, to include myself are all mommy's to our pups and who passes up an opportunity to celebrate and enjoy a nice dinner with friends?? Not me. I then ended my night by taking ice cream to some of my favorite kiddos.

Sunday morning I tried out a new church in town. Who knew it could be so difficult to find the "right" place? I was so fortunate with the awesome church I grew up in that it's hard to compare. I'll be trying another one this week. I know God will lead me to the right place soon. Sunday afternoon I washed B's car and spent time out at the ball fields as we had our first softball practice of the season. Boy did it feel good to get out there and play again; I am definitely looking forward to the upcoming season! Sunday night, once again, some friends joined me at the house and we had homemade Chipotle (thanks Beth, it was delicious!) and played some card games. As much as I enjoyed my fun filled weekend, I was ready for some rest!

This past week was another busy one, mostly filled with lots of hours at work. We've been busy moving equipment, attending meetings, and making final adjustments for the beginning of the season. I've come home late each and every night just completely worn out. I also had to say good-bye to one of my favorite families as they headed home for the deployment. I will miss them very much and can't wait until they come back next year!

I want to continue to thank each and everyone of you for the never ending thoughts and prayers you have been sending B and I's way. I have received so many kind and thoughtful letters from some amazing friends and even a few awesome gifts! Not only do I love getting mail, but it truly does mean a lot to B and I.
One of the best gifts ever and so meaningful. Psalm 91. Such an awesome reading for deployment.

A gift from Mom! Thanks, I love it!

She figured I needed my own set to get me through deployment. :)
Now for a quick update on B. He has finally made it to his FOB where he will be spending at least the next few months of his time. They still have not started doing too much work. He spends his days for now sleeping in, eating, working out, and just hanging out on his computer watching movies or playing games. Yes, he has been doing some things for his job, but for the majority, that's his day to day. They hope to begin firing in the next couple of weeks which will be nice for him as he will finally be doing what he was sent there to do and it will get him on some sort of schedule and routine which he is definitely looking forward to. He now has an address where he can receive mail. Due to OPSEC I won't post it here, but if you're interested in it, just shoot me a quick message or comment and I will make sure you get it.

After a day full of productivity, here's to a relaxing night!

Love and Strength,
Lindsey
